Classic Tetris League Mid-Season Update: Season 25
We're over halfway through CTL Season 25, and the division tables are shaping up to the point where we can talk about the stakes involved for each player as we head into the final two and a half weeks. A lot has happened already, but tournament organizer Kingsman likes to save the juiciest matches for the end of the season. You can find them live on the CTL Twitch channel and post-produced on Youtube.
All division standings tables are accurate as of May 10. Players are ordered by their average number of points per match; points for the CTL standings tables are computed using the formula (3*matches played) + sets won + game difference. You can find the current standings here.

Division 1A
Quick reminder: this season has an eight-person championship playoff bracket. The top two in
each div get in, and the two remaining players with the highest point
totals get the last two slots. The last-place finisher in each div will be relegated to Div 2, while the next-to-last player will need to win a best-of-seven playoff match against a Div 2 player to keep their spot.
Player | MP | MR | GD | Pts | Max | Pts/M |
4 PIXELANDY | 3/7 | 3-0 | 9 | 21 | 49 | 7.00 |
2 ALEX THACH | 3/7 | 3-0 | 8 | 20 | 48 | 6.67 |
13 SV | 4/7 | 4-0 | 7 | 23 | 44 | 5.75 |
14 RAHMATIONS | 5/7 | 3-2 | 3 | 21 | 35 | 4.20 |
21 COALBUCKET | 5/7 | 2-3 | -2 | 15 | 29 | 3.00 |
PEEKAYRIC | 3/7 | 0-3 | -7 | 2 | 30 | 0.67 |
22 SUNNY | 4/7 | 0-4 | -10 | 2 | 23 | 0.50 |
TIMMYKIM | 3/7 | 0-3 | -8 | 1 | 29 | 0.33 |
So far, so good for Andy and Alex T. Alex has a slightly easier schedule ahead of him after taking care of Rah 3-1. Otherwise, both of the top players still have their toughest challenges ahead of them, still needing to play SV and each other. SV has also already beat Rah 3-1 and is a top contender for a wildcard spot; if he can win either of his matches against the top two players and gets a little luck, an automatic playoff berth is in the cards for him as well.
Rah looks like he's in for a comfortable landing, with his remaining matches being against Andy and Timmykim. Coal will want to take care of Peek in his upcoming match, but if he does so, he can claim a mid-table finish to a successful first Div 1 campaign.
Peek, Sunny, and Timmykim are in a slugfest at the bottom of the table. Peek and Timmykim have an extra chance to try to steal some points from a mid-table opponent, but ultimately, each player has yet to play the other two, and staying in the top tier will come down to those matches.
Division 1B
Player | MP | MR | GD | Pts | Max | Pts/M |
5 GERALD FREEMAN | 3/7 | 3-0 | 9 | 21 | 49 | 7.00 |
8 DANV | 3/7 | 3-0 | 5 | 17 | 45 | 5.67 |
6 BLUE SCUTI | 5/7 | 4-1 | 8 | 27 | 41 | 5.40 |
7 SIDNEV | 5/7 | 4-1 | 7 | 26 | 40 | 5.20 |
TUGI | 5/7 | 2-3 | -3 | 14 | 28 | 2.80 |
16 SODIUM | 3/7 | 1-2 | -2 | 8 | 36 | 2.67 |
ANSEL | 5/7 | 0-5 | -11 | 4 | 18 | 0.80 |
CHILLER | 5/7 | 0-5 | -13 | 2 | 16 | 0.40 |
1B is wide open. Gerald and DanV haven't dropped a set yet, but other than both of them beating Tugi, they haven't been tested too much. Gerald is the favorite to take the first-place spot, but has a gauntlet of matches ahead of him. DanV is still very much in this, but he has a lot of Tetris left to play, and he's bleeding points to opponents further down the table. The only players in the top half of the div who have faced each other so far are Sidnev and Scuti, which Sidnev won, effectively cancelling out her loss to Tugi. Both players have have taken care of the rest of the div, and their upcoming matches against Gerald and DanV will be massive, determining not only the results of this division but also how the wild card race shakes out.
Tugi has had an excellent season and still controls his own fate. A set win will mean he avoids relegation for sure, and he has two chances against Chiller and Sodium to do it. Sodium is probably fine, but needs to be careful; he has tough matchups ahead against Gerald and DanV, and missteps against Tugi and Ansel could cause him to be sucked into a relegation battle.
Ansel and Chiller are five sets in and haven't won any of them, and they both have one last shot at getting points from a mid-table opponent to avoid making the match between them effectively a relegation playoff.
Division 1C

3 DOG | 3/7 | 3-0 | 9 | 21 | 49 | 7.00 |
1 FRACTAL | 5/7 | 4-1 | 9 | 28 | 42 | 5.60 |
11 THEDENGLER | 2/7 | 2-0 | 3 | 11 | 46 | 5.50 |
NEK0 | 4/7 | 2-2 | 4 | 18 | 39 | 4.50 |
10 MYLES | 6/7 | 4-2 | 1 | 23 | 30 | 3.83 |
SOMALIAN | 5/7 | 1-4 | -7 | 9 | 23 | 1.80 |
18 PORTALLL | 4/7 | 1-3 | -7 | 6 | 27 | 1.50 |
TEGAMECH | 5/7 | 0-5 | -12 | 3 | 17 | 0.60 |
Div 1C has had two huge storylines so far: Fractal's loss to Noah Dengler and the rise of Neko as a competitive Div 1 player. Dog currently sits at the top and is perfect through three sets that include a win over Myles, and if he continues playing at the same level he has been, the defending champion will have already won the division before even thinking about his match against Fractal. Despite the loss, Fractal is also well-positioned for an automatic playoff berth, and he's still the same player that won 19 matches and 3 CTM titles in a row. If Noah starts racking up the wins, though, he can cause Fractal a headache. His season is still young, but if he can take care of everyone outside the top three, he can start thinking of knocking Fractal out of the playoff spots -- or, at the very least, position himself very well for a wildcard.
Myles has had a good season overall, but every match with him is surprisingly close, with the only sweep being his loss against Dog. He'll need a strong win over Noah to keep his playoff hopes alive. Neko has exceeded expectations, but he has a beast of a schedule ahead of him. Though he relegation fight will most likely pass him by, he'll want to keep an eye on what's going on.
Portal is not at all in a situation that he wants to be in, getting sucked into a relegation playoff race with noted escape artist Somalian. He has an extra set to play, but that extra set is against Dog, so it's unlikely to be converted into much. He has the tiebreaker through beating Somalian in a decider, but he's three points back. Avoiding the 1/2 playoff will come down to who performs better against their mutual opponents. One of them is Tegamech, who has looked outmatched all season, but can turn the tables quickly if he can beat one or both of them. The other is Noah, who still has everything to play for.
Division 2A
Matches in Div 2 and below are scheduled by the players themselves, so the timeline for finishing them tends to be a bit more uneven. The winner gets promoted to Div 1, while the second-place player gets a chance to beat a Div 1 player in a best-of-seven match to move up. Third place finishers have a shot, too, but the two of them have to play each other in a best-of-five first to determine who will play the Div 1 player. The last-place player will play a playoff match to determine whether or not they stay put; there's no auto-relegation for Div 2 this season.

DOODLE | 2/5 | 2-0 | 6 | 14 | 35 | 7.00 |
OSCAR GODINEZ | 2/5 | 2-0 | 2 | 10 | 31 | 5.00 |
JERPI | 2/5 | 1-1 | 2 | 9 | 30 | 5.50 |
KIRBYRULZ | 4/5 | 1-3 | -4 | 7* | 14 | 1.75 |
BISBY | 1/5 | 0-1 | -3 | 0 | 28 | 0.00 |
ZXVYE | 1/5 | 0-1 | -3 | 0 | 28 | 0.00 |
Hard to say much about 2A yet, other than that Doodle and Oscar are off to good starts, and that we expect Jerpi to put up a fight for the title -- her loss was in a decider against Oscar.

FUR OF KITTEN | 1/5 | 1-0 | 3 | 7 | 35 | 7.00 |

TETRISTIME | 2/5 | 1-1 | 0 | 7 | 28 | 3.50 |
TRISKAI | 3/5 | 1-2 | -1 | 9 | 23 | 3.00 |

ANICOMI | 1/5 | 0-1 | -3 | 0 | 28 | 0.00 |
Cobra looked like he was going to cruise into first place until Kitten put up a trio of monster games to sweep him. If they can keep playing like that, not only will they head up to Div 1, they'll cause a lot of headaches once they get there. Cobra has had a great season, though, and has already guaranteed himself some sort of route to Div 1, though he'll have to wait to see how long that route will be. Tetristime will need to win out to push him down to the third spot.
